ROPES COURSE INSPECTIONS AND COURSE RENOVATION

Ropes Course Inspection Services | Challenge Course Inspections | Zip Line Inspecitons

The Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) standards recommend that in addition to daily and periodic inspections completed by the course manager that challenge courses be inspected annually by a qualified challenge course professional.  Our professional builders will help ensure the integrity of your course and keep you abreast of changes in the challenge course industry and up to date on standards and leading practices.  All of our inspections are conducted "hands-on".  Everything on the course and local environment is inspected, including:

nearby surroundings
utility pole integrity
challenge course course platforms
pole hardware
course hardware

included structures
wire ropes/cables
termination points
climbing ropes and lines
climbing harnesses

tree health
element structure
guy lines and anchors
staples
climbing helmets

Small repairs can often be made on site during the inspection.  Tightening wire rope clamps, replacing worn out clamps, backing out bolts, and removing dead branches and other hazards.  Inspectors will also check the course for functionality, and on request, may review and assess challenge course program operations.   A verbal report on the course will be provided at the time of the inspection.  A written report that reviews safety and operating procedures, course policy, covers inspection findings, details larger repairs and upcoming needs for your challenge course, and suggests improvements will be issued shortly after.

Does your course look like this?
When it could look like this!

Ropes course and challenge course standards have evolved significantly over the past 10 years, greatly reducing the risk to participants.  S.T.E.P.S. has considerable experience redesigning and renovating old ropes courses built off of poles or trees.  All renovations will be made to meet current ACCT standards.

Outdated cabling techniques can threaten tree health and overall course longevity.  Frequently, investing in renovation means investing in the life of your course.

Following an inspection, or upon request, our builders will work with you to create a detailed maintenance plan so that you and your program can plan accordingly for the future.
